Richard III was to inherit Henry VIII's Church of England.

Henry VIII couldn't destroy the monasteries (that followed Egyptian monotheism) as long as they had a connection with Rome. At the time Henry VIII was married to Catherine, and he knew that Rome would not approve a separation - so he concocted a ruse to get control of the Church by a marriage to Anne Boleyn c 1533.

Henry assigned Thomas Cranmer as Archbishop of Canterbury who then approved the separation and Henry VIII quickly separated from Rome and created the Church of England.

Then as supreme head of the Church of England he issued the edict c1537 and Thomas Cranmer, the newly appointed Archbishop of Canterbury, (who hated the monastics) carried out his order and destroyed the monasteries -

Anne Boleyn was simply a tool in a far bigger ruse.
