"When a man marries his mistress, he creates a job vacancy"?
Was it Henry VIII, David Lloyd George or James Goldsmith?

Hi Stephen
"When a man marries his mistress, he creates a job vacancy"?
Was it Henry VIII, David Lloyd George or James Goldsmith?
Er...I believe that would be a quote from Sir James Goldsmith [or ' Sir Jammy Fishpaste', as the satirical and wonderful mag 'Private Eye',* who he was always suing, habitually referred to him, IIRC!] ;-)
Regards, Lorraine
*To keep on topic for the Forum, this same mag's architecture contributor/reporter 'Piloti' wrote a very good and somewhat scathing article some years ago about Richard's one-time London gaff Crosby Place and its (then) new owner's plans to mock-Tudorfy it up a bit!

Quite right - but it could easily have been one of the others!

Given that Lloyd George was eighty and had only eighteen months to
live when he married his mistress, I am not sure it is really
appropriate for him !
