Christmas of 500 years ago brought to life

LORD Burgh's Retinue, a Lincolnshire Medieval re-enactment and living
history group, will be recreating a Christmas from the Wars of the
Roses at Gainsborough Old Hall on Saturday, December 13 from 10am to
5pm.
In its tenth year, the Retinue will be turning back the clock,
decking the Great Hall with holly, ivy and mistletoe and preparing
for a subperb evening banquet for the first visitors of the festive
period ý Sir Thomas Burghýs mother in law!

tors to the 1462 manor will not only have the chance to tour the
maginificent medieval building, but to also see the great kitchen
working to produce fine dishes for the hall tables, learn about
Englandýs religion, find out what Cchristmas was really like for a
household, learn about music, games, dances, and help out with a new
mumming play.
Tthis is your chance to meet Sir Thomas, the ladies, staff and some
visitors with a life saving mission.
Throughout the day, you will experience arms and armour, dress and
fashion, meals and manners, religion, games, music and dance; a
chance to discover the England of 500 ago.
Entry is: adults ý5, concessions ý3.30 and family ý13.30.
Lord Burghýs Retinue is based in Lincolnshire but recruits across the
UK, specialising in recreating the household of Sir Thomas and Lady
Burgh, a knight who lived at Gainsborough Old Hall.

I wish I could go too Paul..but, I'm on Night shifts!
The Burghs are a superb group that I have often met up with.Anyone who goes
will have a wonderful time..they did this recreation on TV last year.
