He was a favorite of old Margaret Beaufort Stanley wasn't she?

imagine her for a mother-in-law? Shivers up the spine..

Oh yes...he lived on to become Archbishop of Canterbury, the highest Church post in the land. He died at the ripe age of 80 in September, 1500...too early to witness what the son of the man he helped put on the throne did to the Church in which Morton had such an illustrious career.

Egads, I didn't know that he lived that far into the reign..he is
probably rolling over in his grave over the Reformation and the Church
Of England..changes by King Henry VIII..poetic justice maybe?

Don't know about rolling in his grave, but I recall reading a novel once that had him as a vampire...anyone more richly deserving a stake through the heart would be hard to think of.

Hi Richard, If anyone does deserve a stake through the heart then yep it
is Morton...tis funny about him being a vampire in a book..I hope he
wasn't the hero...He was a very sneaky man who clearly knew that he
wasn't a York Man..He hooked up with the old Maggie Beaufort and
company.

Paul Trevor Bale
I spit on his grave regularly, each time I visit Canterbury!
Loathsome creature John Morton.
