The Maligned King--the Crowland continuator?

In her book, Annette Carson mentions--almost as an aside--that the detail the continuator provided dropped significantly once Richard became king. She speculates that the writer was most probably someone who had access to the Woodvilles and not so much to Richard or his circle. This makes me question the general consensus that John Russell was the continuator because he was Richard's chancellor, giving him closer access during Richard's reign than the chronicle reflects.
In "Royal Blood", Fields suggests that it could have been Henry Sharp, pronotory of Chancery. He wasn't as close to Richard as was Russell, possibly because of his ties to Bishop Morton.
Any other candidates for continuator?
