Dr M M Gilchrist
Hi! I've added a couple of albums for portraits and funeral effigies
of the 'cast'.

The Westminster funeral effigies are marvellous. Sadly, Bessy and
Henry lost most of their bodies because of wartime water damage. But
Henry reveals his secret past as a glamour model& ;-D
cheers,
Doc M

Welcome aboard.

Do I deduce that you are female and at least partly Scottish? Although I am
neither, I take an interest in the Roxburgh anniversary because it took
place during the year of battles - possibly timed because of the Lancastrian
regime's internal problem.

Dear Stephen,

Thanks!

Right on both counts! I identify as Scots, but my mother's English/Irish/Welsh hybrid – on one side, Ughtred/Outhet. That line ended up as agricultural labourers on what had been their own lands near Scarborough. I do wonder if Bosworth was responsible: I know one of the posher branch of the Ughtreds was in Richard's army.

James was a nasty piece of work. The cannon accident couldn't have happened to a nicer man...

Well, the name with the photos gave away your gender and the surname is Scots.
Now you mention Scarborough, I marked the Thomas Stafford raid anniversary. He and his family are a particular interest of mine and there are a lot of little yellow booklets around the country.
That cannon went off before Richard's eighth birthday - what do you make of James III? MacDougall doesn't like him or Richard but I think his knowledge of the latter is superficial.

My surname's Gilchrist (Gilkerson/Gilchristson pre-1805).

I can't recall Norman talking about Richard in tutorials. I liked Jameses III and IV better than the previous Stewarts: they at least had signs of brain activity. (I'm no fan of the family on the whole: my favourites are the bastards, Archbishop Alexander Stewart – scholarly, short-sighted, killed at Flodden – and the Regent Moray.) But it's a long time ago, and I couldn't be fashed with revisiting them.
cheers,
Doc M
