Go to the group's homepage and near the top on the left there's the
link "Edit Membership." On the page it send you to, scroll down to
"Step 3. Message Preference." Change from "Fully Featured" to
"Traditional."

I did that and it didn't take until I cleared my history, etc.
I'm concerned because it said that we can only do this temporarily. What
temporary means, I don't know.

Granted, Yahoo will sneakily change it back from time to time, usually
when a Group has been changed or upgraded in some way, but most of the
time the change is permanent.
