OK, here it is in the BAllad of Bosworth Field. Hughes cited it as
one of his sources on the notion that Richard put on his crown and
wore it into battle. The poem is in The Road to Bosworth Field, and
I read it - but I missed it. Oh, well, r3.org's version is more
readable.
He said, 'Give me my battle-axe in my hand,
Set the crown of England on my head so high!
For by Him that shope both sea and land,
King of England this day will I die!
I'm really wondering if this was really some part of his helmet, and
if such insignia or a crest or whatever was standard in his day.
