Ricardian Register news and calling for Register Articles
Ricardian Register news and calling for Register Articles

I just got word that the March Registers (& Bulletins) will be going
out next week and this time, the Bulletin delivery was flawless. Yay!
Because this is bulk mail, it will still be a couple of weeks before you
receive the publications. I will be submitting the PDF file for upload
to the r3 members page this weekend. All members of the Richard III
Society can access the r3.org members page. For access, contact Pam
Butler, Online Member Services at sarabandelabere@....
However, my cupboard is bare folks. I don't have any articles for the
June issue. If anyone if working on an article for the Register, please
submit it to me by April 15 as I need to be able to submit the
publication files to the printer by the first week of May. This will
also be a good time to submit the AGM agenda and registration forms for
inclusion in the June issue. In addition, I'm going to start including a
short historical fiction story that has anything to do with the Wars of
the Roses. Please send material for the Register to me at
u2nohoo@....
I've also launched a new blog for the Register where, with the author's
permission, past articles are posted for comment. This blog is open to
the public and to start, I'm not moderating it, but you will have to do
that word verification to prove you're human. Please sign your name to
the blog if you choose to post anonymously. The first article is The
Questionable Legend of Henry Wyatt by Annette Carson. You can access the
blog here <http://ricardianregister.blogspot.com/> .
Cross posted on the American branch discussion group and on Facebook.

Hooray!
If I can, I'll try to get that piece on the Hantavirus=The Sweat. My biggest problem: the AMA has closed its library, where I got my original info, and since I didn't copy many citations....
A couple of items I read put to rest the idea that wealthy men were the only victims. R.S. Gottfried, "Population, plague, and the sweating sickness: demographic movements in late fifteen-century England," Journal British Studies, 1977, and A. Dyer, "The English sweating sickness of 1551: an epidemic anatomized, Medical History, 1997. These were later cited in 1997 by M. Taviner, G. Thwaites, V. Gant, "The English sweating sickness, 1485 - 1551: a viral pulmonary disease, Medical History, 1998. Also, Hanta is the leading suspect, and it's still found, periodically in the SW US, when there's a proliferation of a certain field mouse.... E. Bridson, "The English sweat (Sudor Anglicus) and Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome," British Journal, Biomedical Science, 2001.
All this for a novel! Leaping lizards!
