Dear Joan, what a treasure trove! Thanks for sharing.
The images, themselves, are delightful (like the one of the couple from The Romance of the Rose - caption: "Not tonight, dear. I've a headache.")
Judy
For those interested: I have a pattern (somewhere amidst my hoard) for making that wool hood with the "wings" - a Flemish hood, which is a flattering fashion for most women. Know a talented seamstress (Vicky) and a hat maker (Katrina, who specializes in making hennins, including the butterfly veil style); both women live in the UK. The seamstress also makes belts, purses, veils, and (occasionally) hats. Contact me, and I'll put you in touch with either or both. Nothing cheap, alas! but all "investments" of long durance (i.e., many years' happy wearing at your favourite Ricardian and other medieval events). You would not be disappointed.
