Hi, Stephen, I've been a bit out-of-sorts this past week, and my Online connection has been erratic. Is the cited Thomas Stafford the brother of Humphrey of Grafton? If so, can you give me a few details along that path? Many thanks, even if this is completely off track.
(And to anyone who wants a big Virtual Hug, any interesting details on the the 1486 rebellion would be a huge help! I'm a muddle when it comes to battles, but aftermaths are more my thing...and I have this great letter opener that cries: "Sanctuary!" in memory of poor Humphrey (not Quasimodo); amazing what one stumbles upon at jumble sales.)

Hi Judy and all the rest - My online connection hasn't been erratic, but I still don't think my posts to the forum are getting through. And I suspect I'm not the only one, as I have no idea what Stephen's latest post was about. If no one responds with a comment on this message, I'll assume it didn't arrive either.

No, the senior (Buckingham) branch of the Staffords: the third Duke's grandson, who was beheaded in 1557. Both TS and Strype, who was born under a century later, are on Wikipedia with a link to his quote.

"Bulletin" - this has been ongoing for a very long time and
Philippa has expended much blood, sweat, toil and tears on it. It is
entirely by her labours that we have permission from Leicester City Council
to investigate the site of the Greyfriars, and that the dig in

not certain is whether a major UK channel will commission it as a TV special.
It's very likely Channel 4 will do so if significant discoveries are made,
but unfortunately we don't know what exactly they will characterize as
'significant'! Failing a commission by a major TV programme-maker, a
short film will certainly be produced. However, the main objective is to do
the best archaeological work possible in the time available, and Philippa has
assembled an impressive team of experts. Now all we can do is hope.

grateful thanks. Glad to know that it isn't all going into some black hole in
cyberspace!

>A quick word about the article by Philippa Langley in the Society's June
"Bulletin" - this has been ongoing for a very long time and
Philippa has expended much blood, sweat, toil and tears on it. It is
entirely by her labours that we have permission from Leicester City Council
to investigate the site of the Greyfriars, and that the dig in
August/September will be filmed. I will be among those assisting. What is
not certain is whether a major UK channel will commission it as a TV special.
