I look at the Austrian Radio and Television website quite often, and was
interested to see a headline 'French town wants crown jewels back' recently.
It turns out that, as the Plantagenets were got rid of in 1485, Angers
wants the crown jewels from the Tower of London.
Not surprisingly, I haven't spotted this in the English-speaking news
(though it appears to have been in the Daily Mail, nuff said), and I
haven't looked for it in French. They have 2200 signature, and want
800,000.
But even 800,000 signatures won't dispose of Henry VII's Plantagenet
(even if via Beaufort) ancestry. And the post-Civil War nature of the
Queen's regalia.
If you can read German <http://orf.at/stories/2131582/2131586/>. If you
can't, you can still go to the bottom of the page for the links.
