Princess Eugenie:
"In October 2002, Eugenie, then aged twelve, underwent back surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, to correct scoliosis. She still has the two titanium rods in her back that were put in place in 2002.[6] She made a full recovery and is not hereby expected to undergo any further surgery for the condition."

I have scoliosis. When it was first noticed (around age 12), this surgery wasn't available. Like Richard, my right shoulder tends to be slightly raised. It looks worse on an x-ray, so presumably after I'm dead, my bones will show it quite vividly. But in life, it's only really noticeable when I'm over-tired...or if I wear a blouse with a wide neck opening, where the whole thing tends to slip off my left shoulder. My husband considers this a benefit :-) He, too, has mild scoliosis. And my mother, who was a fashion model in the 1940s, had it also. It never interfered with her career.
The treatment, when I was a child, was exercise - something Richard would have engaged in from boyhood on. I just wish the media would get the facts straight.
