Here is a picture of the full cast of the BBC adaption of Philippa Gregory's The White Queen. Click on the picture for full size.

While I have no hopes at all for historical accuracy, I like the choice of actors very much. Aneurin Barnard is 26, so will be the right age to play the age span 18-33 convincingly.

Here are side-by-side portraits neatly listed ;-):

To come back to historical accuracy: Henry Stafford is played by Michael Maloney, who is in his fifties (I think). Aneurin Barnards character is listed on IMDB as "Richard Duke of YORK", and I'm afraid that is not a typo.

And here is a brief glimpse at the set, which looks gorgeous!

They got some pretty people there!
Should someone contact them with the Duke of Gloucester factor?

Are you on twitter, bandyoi? Aneurin Barnard is, and I've just sent him a tweet. We'll see if he replies.

When I asked Michael Maloney if his character is Buckingham or Hastings, he wrote that it is Henry Stafford, and added that it is "maybe a bit different". Which I take as a confirmation that historical accuracy is not, hm, intended. ;-)

Renate, I am on twitter but is not active. What did you ask him?! I SO hope it has something of history to the series. Regular folks will probably never know the distortions but that's what they will think is true.....
Ishita
P.S Is he on facebook? I am more regularly there.

Hi Ishita,
he seems to be very quiet on facebook, and not too active on twitter either. I have only just started on twitter myself (and still feel rather awkward ;-) ). If you want to follow me, my nick is @WalburgaVent.

No hope for any accuracy here! But I hope the upcoming popularity of the series will make a path for other productions with more historical accuracy.
