If the romance of this good man and his early life in a beautiful countryside , being loyal and brave, loving, etcý.offers comfort as well as intellectual stimulation (learning history), so be it. Others who realize the responsibility of speaking up for him in modern times, and the weight of presenting historical facts, clearly and accurately while taking it upon ourselves to educate the public, choose a coldly analytical pathý..both are worthy and valid. Both approaches offer opportunity for deep historical research, and then in our own ways, enjoying what that process has offered up. Our common bond is Richard, and without a doubt, we are all time tested, eternally devoted to him. Lovely, Carol! And thank you!
Personally, may I say that it doesn't have to be "all one" or "all the
other." There is something about Richard that strikes a chord deep in my
soul. But that inspires me to learn as much as I can - of the truth, "warts
and all," as Oliver Cromwell is supposed to have directed his portrait
painter.
I also think of a favourite saying of Justice Walter Goodfellow's of the
Nova Scotia Supreme Court in guiding always-competitive barristers: "Strive
mightily, but eat and drink as friends." Each of us has different
backgrounds, education and abilities, but we are all united in the interest
of Richard Plantagenet. And there are many ways in which that goal can be
fostered, each of us doing our small part.

Oh well said Carol....Yes...let's just post and enjoy in our own ways....We are not all academic but those who are not are, as George said the other day 'enthusiastic amateurs' and simply want to to enjoy talking with like minded people. We dont all have to agree but neither is it enjoyable to be engaged in neverending arguments about our beliefs all the time. As Shakespeare said...sometimes it pays to "give thy thoughts no tongue".
I have learnt a lot on here.......and that is a jolly good reason for staying...
