Thanks. All sound good. There're are more selections than ever!
BTW, it's not approp for Richard, but one of my Faves is Archie Fisher's Witch of the West Moreland, performed by the late Canadian folk singer, Stan Rogers. Great, lively modern ballad.

Oh, this is lovely. I found the Archie Fisher version here:
http://youtu.be/OwRnKeFOhVQ
Thank you so much for introducing me to this composer/musician. Considering the Yorkshire ghost legends and mythology, and the hawk, the hounds and the horses, if one doesn't insist on strict traditional boundaries, it might work for an evocative Richard scene. He did love minstrels and music; maybe he could pretend not to hear the witch bits? :)

For spooky and evocative, though not pertaining to Richard in any way, you might look up the deal-with-the-devil ballad "Peter Grubb."
Since Francis Lovell seems to have escaped to Scotland, there to die, I thought of "Will Ye Nae Come Back?"

Oh, bless me, Jake Thackery is a BARITONE, I could listen and listen. His introductions are fun, his lyrics are sinful and layered, he's fun to watch, and there's a lot of him on YouTube. He doesn't just sing, he creates characters for his songs.
I just finished "The Castleford Ladies Magic Circle" ('unspeakable pagan rites....') and am listening to "The Kiss" and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Again.
Please keep the recommendations coming -- Ricardian or not? Can't ever have enough new music.

That's wonderful. I never saw him perform, but Stan's brother toured with Fisher in the early '90s, and my friend and I saw him at a Chicago folk bar...

I suspect Richard wouldn't have regarded her as a heretic witch per se, nearly as much as a "fey lady," like the characters in the old Arthurian stories: Morgan and Vivian/Niniane/Nimue.

Re: Tracks for Richard

I hadn't thought of that. And since Richard seems to have enjoyed the old Arthurian stories, perhaps he would have enjoyed something like this:
"Lady of the Lake" by Heather Dale - http://youtu.be/WZ8A9uHThIA
Wasn't Richard's age the one where the minstrels would play during meals, and the hosts would expect their guests to perform afterward if they could? Sort of a medieval karaoke?

Considering the Yorkshire ghost legends and mythology, and the hawk, the hounds and the horses, if one doesn't insist on strict traditional boundaries, it might work for an evocative Richard scene. He did love minstrels and music; maybe he could pretend not to hear the witch bits? :)
