Duchess of Cambridge royal????

Re Royal descent&.How is the Duchess of Cambridge descended from Royalty? I thought her extended genealogical background was very common. Carol D.

The short answer is that it was in my Bulletin letter of March 2011, but I
shall access my original research.

But i thought that practically everybody in England (except me) had Edward III as an ancestor - at least that's what it seems sometimes.

So both William and Catherine can both trace their ancestry back to the
Percy's? That's interesting, to say the least. However, and I certainly
could be wrong about this, doesn't the distant connection of the Duchess to
EIII mean that she isn't of "royal" descent, at least in any legal sense?
Which I think is what blancsanglier meant (although I could also be wrong
about THAT!).

I did say everyone appears to be descended from Edward III!  Not that it matters of course who she is descended from,  but it would probably shut up those people who go on about her mother being an air hostess.    (If they've even heard of Edward III of course.0
