I have found the discussions regarding who she is related to quite interesting. To find out that many of us are related from Edward III is a disappointment, I have always prided myself on being a commoner. Does it matter who someone is related to really, I hope that they married each other because they loved and cared for each other. As for her father being a self made man, good for him, better than having to do nothing for your money except of course be born in the right family.
Like others on the forum I believe they have found our king, never doubted it. If the burial is in Leicester as a midland lass I will cheer, not all of us live near the capital and to have only the one burial in a cathedral will be better, after all although I love York and Westminster Abbey they are expensive to get into and are not that respectful places to go with all the tourism.
Crossing my fingers for good news in the new year.
Meanwhile Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Marion: I hope you get your wish and that the King is reinterred in Leicester. The friars buried him when they could have turned their backs on him out of fear of the new regime.
Is there any chance he can be given a Catholic service? Maire.

The friars buried Richard 3 because they were under the control of the Pope and not the King and as a religious order it was both their duty and right to bury a loyal catholic subject, subsequently the Pope demanded and received penance from Henry for killing God's anointed monarch. (They probably were pushing the tolerance of the Tudors burying him in a high place of honor had they been found out) however you could argue that the burial was done with the full approval of Henry but without any marker)
The Catholic church was omnipotent over all Christian kingdoms hence the "little" disagreement that happened during Henry Viii reign
In the 15th Century very little happened that was not in some way connected to the church and by virtue Rome.

I simply meant that the friars were the ones who rescued his body and buried it properly. Perhaps there were others who stepped forward and volunteered to inter the body but were lost to history...
I'm still wondering about a Catholic Mass for King Richard. Maire.

I never knew that George....I'm pleased to hear it....although Im wondering if it actually ever bothered Weasle...After all he knew exactly what the outcome was going to be if he won Bosworth...He got around it neatly though by predating his reign. Eileen

Really? I never knew that but am glad to hear it. What's your source, George?
