Before I dedicate any memory space to this book, I wonder whether anyone would care to comment on the usefulness of "History of the Life and Reign of Richard the Third", James Gairdner, published 1898.
I am still relatively new at this and, as a starving student, my resources are limited to what I can scrounge from the open web and my university library access - please be gentle!
Frankly y'all scare me. I'm an old farm girl gone back to school and I feel intimidated among all you medievalists!
Thank you for you help.

I haven't read this particular book so I can't help you with that. But
I want you to know that you are not the only "amateur" here and that I,
for one, welcome your opinions and insights. Have you read the Paul
Kendall book? It's a great way to start. Maire.

You might find Gairdner's book available free on google books, either to
read online or download to an e-reader.

Hi, Merriann & everyone -
There are several books by Gairdner avail for kindle at little or no cost. I've got them but haven't read them yet. He was, I take it, a historian of the Traditionalist school. In Daughter of Time the "woolly lamb" gives a copy of his History of RIII to Grant, describing it as a "yell." The reason, as I take it, is that Gardner was honest enough to detail all the good that Richard did but maintain the contradictory position that he did in his nephews.

You might find Gairdner's book available free on google books, either to
read online or download to an e-reader.

I haven't read this particular book so I can't help you with that. But
I want you to know that you are not the only "amateur" here and that I,
for one, welcome your opinions and insights. Have you read the Paul
Kendall book? It's a great way to start. Maire.

relatively new at this and, as a starving student, my resources are
limited to what I can scrounge from the open web and my university
library access - please be gentle! Frankly y'all scare me. I'm an old
farm girl gone back to school and I feel intimidated among all you
medievalists! Thank you for you help.
