Liz -
It is excellent! Glad to see the Society is carrying the torch!
(There are a couple of minor typos, however. "Fledging" should be
"Fledgling" and the "so" before "favourably" should be deleted.)
But I say, "Hear, hear!"

Thanks for posting this Liz - it was due to go out to the Forum tomorrow
once the link had been confirmed but it seems to be working OK. Jane
has been working hard on the website!
Can I just remind everyone who is a member of the Society to register
for the new database which will enable you to receive the
'Announcement' as soon as it becomes available!!.
You can register by sending an email with your name, membership number (
if known), emaill address & postcode to
RIII.mailings@...
Full details on page 15 of the December Bulletin.
cheers
Jac

I got it off the Facebook page. Does that mean I don't need to register since I get the alerts from FB?

I'm not sure Liz, depends how soon you want it. John will get it on FB
quickly but the info when it comes is going out first & foremost to
members who have registered.

Re: Today's Press Release

Jac....this is a silly question but by registering will not mean I will not receive the Bulletin anymore?
Only I remember there being something in the Bulletin about making sure that you let it be known if you still want to receive the Bulletin by post....?
Thanks..Eileen

Re: Today's Press Release

Hi Eileen, you are OK, there are two separate issues. One was the
'poll' for receiving the Bulletin online or as a hard copy & the other
is the registering on the database for the 'announcement'.
I think having as many members as possible on the database (usual
protection applies) might mean that information on all sorts of issues
can be sent out instantly instead of having to wait for the Bulletin.
Members who belong to branches/groups already get early info from me
via their secretaries eg press releases, links etc.
Hope that helps:)

THE SEARCH FOR KING RICHARD III: Announcement of date for media
conference
The University of Leicester has today announced that it plans to reveal
the results of a series of scientific investigations into human remains
? which are suspected of being those of King Richard III - in the first
week of February.
The University of Leicester is leading the search for King Richard III,
in association with Leicester City Council and the Richard III Society.
At a press conference in September, the University announced that it had
found human remains with evidence of what was believed to be scoliosis
and battle trauma. The University said that these remains would need to
be subject to rigorous scientific analysis in order to confirm their
identity.
You can access the September Press Conference and other media materials
here:
http://www2.le.ac.uk/offices/press/media-centre/richard-iii
Since that discovery, University experts have subjected the remains to a
series of tests to determine the identity. You can read an overview of
the scientific tests here:

The University is expecting results of the series of tests in the next
few weeks during which period the results will be analysed. The
University aims to announce the conclusions of its investigations at a
press conference provisionally scheduled for the first week of February.
Details of the date/time/venue for the conference and other logistical
arrangements will be announced in due course.
