"Medieval History Is Bunk'

Unfortunately I think that there is a downward trend in regard to
history teaching worldwide. It is certainly true here in Australia.

Far less students are taking History of any type in Sixth Form and
university levels. Humanities at University levels are being slashed
and there is much more emphais on "practical" subjects.

I can't speak for Britain but here I suspect that many of the public
support that attitude. They want "value for money" and "what the use
of studying alot of dead people". Comments I have heard myself.

Not my attitude of course.

Then again history programmes on TV are always extremely popular and
about half the population seen to be tracing their family trees.

By the way our government is Conservative (except they call
themselves the Liberal Party)
