Channel 4 Live Stream Over the Web
Channel 4 Live Stream Over the Web

Found a link, for those of you who would like to watch "The King in the Car Park" from outside the U.K.:
http://watchlive.channel4.com/
I can't test it overly much, as it's Flash-intensive, which is hostile to my vintage Mac setup, but perhaps one or two of the gang could trot by and see if it works?
Here's the page that the good ol' U of Leic say they'll use for video, pictures, commentary, etc., from the presser next Monday:
http://www2.le.ac.uk/offices/press/media-centre/richard-iii
I note, with interest, that there is now a media blackout until the press conference: they're saying no member of the investigative team will be available for interviews or comments, and no fair ambushing them with an iPhone while they're taking the dog for a bit of a wee, either.

I thought that you had saved the day, McJohn, but I can't get it to work on either of my browsers (Firefox and Seamonkey). If someone can get it to work on Internet Explorer, I'll overcome my loathing of that browser and temporarily enable it. Anything for Richard. Meanwhile, noble try, my friend. We'll find a solution somehow.

I am running a Mac Air and the link appears to work just fine, however if you are having JAVA problems then I would suggest using the Browser Puffin that is Java enabled it will not only run cross platform but on your ipad too!
Link to Puffin
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/puffin-web-browser/id406239138?mt=8
This also may help the members who are under 4 Ft of snow

Sadly having done 3 data tests of the site that John submitted I find that the data link for the program will be blocked outside of the normal Ch4 coverage
For those of us in the USA the only way that I can think of to receive the program would to ask a UK member to SKYPE the program for us, then let us join his/ her retransmission.

We have expatnet (although not used it yet)
http://www.my-expat-network.co.uk/?gclid=CPz-q7zxibUCFYqZ4AodLzgA0Q
for ý5 a month that allows UK TV to be viewed from 'abroad' - which is how
I'm hoping to use it via my Apple TV box - where I'll probably have to pay
another ý5 for that program via ITunes Store (where they sell TV programs
too) - worth it though.
expatnet should work on internet only british TV shows too. I tried to view
the link below & it spooled for so long I got bored!

Well, heckfire and tarnation. I did find another thing that apparently lets you sign on from some sort of untethered cellphone-ish gizmo:
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/4od
[Mournfully.] Bet they make it premium, though. An announcement that might just contain the solution to a fascinating high-profile half millennium-old historical mystery? I would!

Ishita
I will keep trying but the problem basically is the address that we use ISP is recognized as coming from the USA and they have blocked content coming from this site (Cha 4)
Someone mentioned a site expat that gives you a UK address via a VPN virtual private network
So if you want to pay its about $15:00 a month for access, however it has got me thinking, if I come up with something then I will let you know.

I wish some individuals (not the tv station) would make video copies and toss them up on YouTube. Wouldn't that be easiest?
As for who will get to broadcast it in the U.S., I'm betting it will be Discovery. I think National Geographic produces its own stuff and does not share well with others.

I still think that the block will happen to UK YouTube as they have done this before with broadcasts.

You can download Expat Shield for free off the internet, I have however not yet worked out how to watch live TV prgrammes, but for the BBC iPlayer and its equivalent on Channel 4 it works fine.
I don't know whether the press conference will be covered live, Channel 4 has something else programmed for that time. However, you will be able to follow the announcements on Twitter like with the press conference on 12 Sept. I especially joined Twitter to be able to follow that.
Cheers,
Dorothea

Well, heckfire and tarnation. I did find another thing that apparently lets you sign on from some sort of untethered cellphone-ish gizmo:
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/4od
[Mournfully.] Bet they make it premium, though. An announcement that might just contain the solution to a fascinating high-profile half millennium-old historical mystery? I would!

I'm not sure it works if you are outside the UK - I have a friend in Paris who has tried to watch channel 4OD stuff and, like bbc iplayer, it says "not available in your area". SO frustrating.

That's why the user uploads it with an obscure title, (something like "archaeology special") and doesn't tag it, and let his fans know the URL. This makes it harder to find it and pull it down. All that quickly, anyway. It works with other stuff.
