R III Society What's New page
R III Society What's New page

Hi. I can't remember who's in charge of reformatting the Society website, but I want to mention that the What's New page is hard to read. I have to either scroll along the bottom or turn off the default formatting to read it. I'm hoping that you'll address this problem as you revamp the site.
Thanks,
Carol
Thanks,
Carol

Is that the UK site or the American Branch site?!

Carol responds:
Thanks, Lisa, but it's the UK site. Here's the link, which I forgot to include earlier:
http://www.richardiii.net/whatsnew.htm
(It's the page where they're announcing the channel 4 documentary.)
The only problem that I've experienced with the American site is links not working and .pdfs for old Ricardian Register articles not working, but I assume that you're already repairing those.
Can't wait for the new revamped site!

Yup - the American site should be much clearer to walk through (I hope) &
easier to maintain & links updated etc...
S'funny I'm a Brit (ex-pat) living in Canada working on the American
website - have to watch my English!! & we have tons of snow!

Thanks, Lisa. Let me know if you have any questions about American English. I'm a freelance copyeditor and taught college English for eighteen years.
I'll take a few flakes of your snow, but the drivers here would go crazy with more than a dusting.

If I had to guess, i'd say it's because they haven't yet implemented their final CSS formatting. Once they do, it should snap into a much more attractive appearance instantly. Right now all you're getting is the information (fascinating though it is).

Unless it is small enough to go in a Margarita!
Otherwise it would be a shame to waste it as no one knows what to do with it!

Re: R III Society What's New page

There are something like 42 different words for the white stuff from the skies in Norwegian, depending on what kind of snow it is. I speak a little Norsk, but not enough to have that many words in my vocab! Though having spent November to March in Oslo one year I can understand why the Norwegians feel the need for so many ways to describe it. Oddly enough after the heaviest snow fall I have ever seen one night, all the trams and trains were running the next day. England would grind to a halt!

We don't have 42, but most of us in the Southwestern part of Texas have a few choice words for HOT!

Thanks, McJohn. I hope that's all it is. (OT, what exactly is CSS formatting?)

CCS is a somewhat quirky column formatting algorithm put forward by Intel, sort of like a solution seeking a question. Most recent professional web page formats will use Adobe or similar that automatically constructs the format to meet the web requirement the main problem being not to just make the site look good but readable for legacy systems ( computer speak for outdated)
