Whether we are man or woman, our interest in this good decent hard working man who could have used a break for&. gosh sake&.is our PASSION evoked at so many of the eternal slings and arrows of misfortune that came his way. My interest is not in&."men in tights&.there are plenty of modern heroes to turn my greying head. But as a life long educator, I feel so outraged at all the eager faces in those rows of desks as they prepare to learn history, being cheated and not knowing it. We need to get it right, all over the place, so they are not cheated. And so they can too wonder at how this unusual man for his time&. was able to carry on so bravely until his last breath. Richards life makes our breath come faster, our blood pressure rise, and our genuine hope that tomorrow will be a better and cleaner day for written history, very real.
