I am still hoping that all who are asked to speak on the subject say exactly what scoliosis is, that t is NOT hunchback, and who today is "suffering' from it, like that man with the ghastly 'deformed' physique Michael Phelps for instance!

The scoliosis would cause one shoulder to be higher.

Here's a very informative website about scoliosis in children. It looks as if he had idiopathic scoliosis, which simply means that the cause is unknown:
