Heh apologies for speaking as I was thinkg-! BBC News 24 I think, it's some young fellow who reckons the Tudors 'only defamed R3's reputation because he [R3] had usurped the throne', rather than to justify their own weak claim. =F*cker!!!

It was someone called Dan Jones, never heard of him before this. I have rung the BBC to point out his error and suggested that he read "Maligned King" and "Eleanor the Secret Queen". He kept saying that Richard had usurped the throne.

That wasn't good either. Sky News is a lot more factual. Pleasantly surprised.

Oh God...just remembered who this daftie is...I bought his book The Tower...a history of the Tower of London, read the part about the Princes and promptly sent it back to Amazon for a refund. This is something I rarely do but it really was crap. It said something on the lines of the bones in the urn were defo the princes as one of the jaws is diseased and Prince Edward had a disease of his jaw because his doctor said so. Dr Argentine said nothing of the sort..he merely reported that Prince Edward was feeling depressed.....This Jones bloke is really a clown..Eileen

First I saw was on an exercise bike at he gym. Looked up to see a screen with the news tuned in and saw pictures of the skull and grave. No sound, but of course I realized what the story was.

I do hope the publicity will push old Beth into ordering a full exam of Eric and Urnie, as well as the collection in Winchester Cathedral.

I do hope the publicity will push old Beth into ordering a full exam of Eric and Urnie, as well as the collection in Winchester Cathedral.

I bought his book The Tower because of the good reviews...

I think it is a massive mistake for a historian to make re Prince Edward having a disease of the jaw..to those that do not know that this is completely wrong could be led into believing that this proved that these bones are indeed the bones of the princes and being found where they were the probably murderer was Richard..Its hardly rocket science is it to get the facts that we do know correct..Its so careless and he is making money from misleading readers...Eileen

Carol responds:

All the reports I've seen say that either or both of the wounds to his head would have caused him to lose consciousness instantly, and if the larger wound was more than seven centimeters deep (they can't tell that from the skull), it would have killed him instantly. If he felt any pain, I would guess that it was from the arrow to the back, which no one seems to be mentioning. Of course, I don't have access to any radio reports and aside from CBS, curse them, I haven't seen anything on TV, either. Online coverage is everywhere, but the only videos I've seen are the Richard Buckley one and the official "it's him" announcement.

Glad I work at home so no one can see how little work I'm actually doing!

Yep....it is a tragedy that More should say the bodies were buried underneath some stairs and later bones were found in such a spot...and of course everyone completely forgets that More also said the bodies were later on moved....

It seems everything in life today has been dumbed down and this includes some historians...they really do seem to be second rate. Eileen

Carol responds:

Not even that. "At the foot of the stairs meetly deep in the ground under a great heap of stones" (quoting from memory so may be slightly off) is not the same as ten feet deep under the *foundations* of a staircase. No one could have carried that off secretly even if it could be done without removing the staircase (as was done when those bones were found). It's only superficially similar (like a crooked spine from scoliosis and a hunchback from kyphosis).

But More not only moves the burial to a less profane location, he later says that the boys may not have been murdered at all. No one pays attention to *that* part, either.

Eileen

I have been crazy busy today, so have to go through a lot. But, I find there are a lots of those f___kers put there who don't know, as my grandfather said "shit from shinola"! They sound pompous, and have lots of opinions but have only a couple of molecules of actual knowledge!
I am quite impressed with those of you who know your stuff. It is with relish that I go through the emails.

George Butterfield
Eileen

&Long after everyone else has gone home, Jo and Mathew continue to carefully remove the skeleton, bagging and labelling each bone. As the last bones are lifted, one final discovery is made: a piece of rusted iron, possibly part of a weapon, beneath two of the vertebrae. The skull, lower jaw and right femur, which will be used for DNA sampling, are wrapped in baking foil. Finally, with the sun setting, everything is loaded into the van, the gates are locked, and the mortal remains of Richard III bid farewell to the Church of the Grey Friars after 527 undisturbed years.
This was taken from the field notes

I read somewhere today the piece of metal was found under 2 vertabrae.

From channel4 chat:
LIN FOXHALL:
It turned out not to be an arrowhead. On further investigation it sees to be
a Roman nail. This is why we need to investigate thoroughly.
