Perry Miniatures are showing a planned model of Richard.
http://www.perry-miniatures.com/index.php
Quoted from thier web site...
"We now have all the new French Napoleonic codes in!
To celebrate the authentication of Richard III's remains in Leicester we present 'Richard III....the return of the King', a fairly impromptu model of himself bursting through the tarmac of a car pack. It isn't quite finished and we will probably put in the range if there is enough interest........"
Cheers,
Stan.

Yup, you're right. It's obviously a quick job why on earth is Richard painted green??!! Rather than bursting through a handicapped spot, it should be a Reserved spot marked with the big white R.
However, if you search for Richard III, there's a nice little group for 8 pounds showing Richard, his standard bearer Sir Percival Thirwall, and a herald. Very handsome miniatures I wouldn't mind owning.

Johanne, the green material is the modelling compound they use in sculpting the master model. It is actually called 'greenstuff'.
The metal horse is a modification of an existing model casting - hacking the back legs off by the look of it.
This "green" as it is known is then used to make a rubber mould for drop casting of the miniatures for sale - which will be pewter.

Hi, Geoff!
Thanks for the info. I wonder if the greenstuff is the same as what guys making garage kits of models like Dracula and Frankenstein use called sculpey (sp?). Except that I'm pretty sure sculpey is grey. Though the handicapped thing is cute in a way, the figure looks very middle-aged, so it's the idea that's sort of appealing and not so much the execution (imo).

I assume the green is either a very poor joke about his complexion after death,
or that's just the sculpt in progress and it's a bit of a rush job.

Yup, you're right. It's obviously a quick job why on earth is Richard painted
green??!! Rather than bursting through a handicapped spot, it should be a
Reserved spot marked with the big white R.
However, if you search for Richard III, there's a nice little group for 8 pounds
showing Richard, his standard bearer Sir Percival Thirwall, and a herald. Very
handsome miniatures I wouldn't mind owning.

Perry Miniatures are showing a planned model of Richard.

Now that i have caught up with everyone and hopefully make no more faux pas , let me say he does look a bit old. Now that they know what he looked like is it too much to hope that they make him look like 'him'?

He is.
I hate to say it, but I told you so: he's becoming a pop-culture icon even as we watch.
But unlike Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and other celebrities, he has no existing estate able to trademark him and demand exclusive licensing deals.
Part of me wants to facepalm. A bigger part of me is laughing and can't wait to see the merchandising to come.

I don't think Richard would mind at all being mixed up with Arthur.
Oh, ghod, who's going to write "Middleham: The Musical" a la "Camelot"?

Can't be worse than the doll I made of him as a teenager, a word which is here
intended in the same sense that Dr. Frankenstein made a man...

And Surrey's legs got hacked off too! Darn those medieval backhoes!
But I deeply resent Perry's using "The Return of the King." That's Aragorn. *sniff*

Not at all, not at all. If you hadn't seen the figurine, you wouldn't have followed the joke. I've been reading your postings for quite some time now and the last adjective I would use is "stupid"!

If they don't someone will. Now that 3D scanning and 3D color printing are available to common persons, look for an explosion in tabletop gaming dedicated to the WotR. It's always been a very, very expensive and time-consuming hobby, but for tabletop gamers, this is just the start of their golden age. Richard, having hit the news big time, is going to be an area of fascination to these guys.
