Dear Jacqui -
I am directing this to you in your capacity as branch liaison of the
Society. I am sure there are many, many people like myself who would love to
attend the March Conference to discuss the recent discovery of King
Richard's remains in Leicester but won't be able to for one reason or
another. In my case, finances and the fact that I'm in full-time attendance
in a Master's program at present will prevent me from attending.
I wonder if there a possibility that arrangements could be made to stream
the Conference online? Perhaps even just the audio (which I think requires a
lot less bandwidth than video.) - the images, plans, diagrams and so on
could be perhaps posted online ahead of time. The Barristers' Society in
Nova Scotia, of which I am a member, frequently holds continuing legal
education seminars which one is able to sign up for a modest fee to attend
"virtually." In addition I have taken several courses at my school courtesy
of a "virtual seat" - those involved both audio and video feeds and were
eminently successful from my perspective.
In short - I would be more than happy to pay the conference registration fee
to be able to attend virtually, and I hope that something can be arranged
for those of us outside the UK who haven't been able to get nearly enough of
Richard III in the past week or so. (smile)

I would be in that. If I had the cash (I have the time), I would have already booked my ticket
and be ready to mooch for lodgings off my brother in Bristol so I could head to Leicester :)

The Conference is not being streamed live as far as I know but I think
it is being videoed. I'll forward your email to the executive officers

Of course I agree with you! But perhaps the next best thing - Jacqui who is the branch liaison said earlier today that the conference will be video's and they will be issuing a DVD in due course. But oh - I sure wish I could be there in person!
