As a Midlander born and bred and proud of it (Coventry and Solihull) I was amused to see someone had suggested that Richard might have had a West Midlands accent.  I find this hard to believe but if he did I would like to say "
"alright our kid, how am yow" - no this would spoil the fantasy.

Hoping to go to the conference, awaiting a response, fingers crossed, never wanted to go anywhere so much. Like others struggling to keep up with the comments, but agree we should not fall out amoungst ourselves, we have enough competition already.  But good exchange of views is always useful.

Hi Marion,

A fellow Coventrian! I too said I would have loved to hear him speak Brummie, or a bit of Bed'orth. And what about Clarence in Brummie too?!

Sadly can't get to conference as have to work; but I shall be there in spirit. Hilary
