Hello Forum members,
I get the Economist and on Feb 7th it published an obituary of Richard III that you may find interesting. It inclines to the view that he was responsible for the murder of his nephews but shows him sympathy; the anonymous author spends some time on his books. There are at least two statements in the article that I would take issue with and no doubt those with greater knowledge will attack other points. However the article is beautifully written and reached a very different audience from the one I expect we normally find.
I have added as much of the web address as I could copy, but if it does not work then Google Economist and when you find the home page type Richard iii into the search box under jobs. When I tried this it was the second item down. The obituary is illustrated with the king's facial reconstruction. Don't bother with most of the comments. There was a letter about the king in the next edition's letter page but it only quoted lines from Shakespeare; if there were letters expressing our view, the editor chose not to print them.

I have been lurking in the forum for a few days but this is my first post. I have another thing to say but it would be better done separately.

Hello Jan,

thank you so much for bringing that to our attention.  It's a good piece.

I wonder if the writer could have been Ann Wroe (Perkin's biographer) - she works, or at least did work, for the Economist.
