What a lovely idea. It reminded me that my Grandmother (born in Yorkshire m. a Lancastrian and lived the rest of her life there) had in her garden when I was a child a rose bush that had been given to her on her marriage with the story that it signified peace between Lancashire and Yorkshire. The reason being (as I recall seeing for myself) that it bore both red roses and white roses - not red & white together. Although a keen gardener I am no expert and do not recall ever seeing this strain of roses again. Could it have been bred specially by someone and since lost?
