A different world.....maybe?????

I have been watching a few doco-dramas about English royalty (mainly
Tudor) and I started wondering what would history be like if 1000
years ago it was known that men determine the sex of a child? What
would life have been like for women, what would happen to succession,
would heirs still be male, what would Richard have done if Elizabeth
had been heir???
Any idea??
