Looking for Francis Lovell's coat of arms/heraldry
Looking for Francis Lovell's coat of arms/heraldry

I know it was of a silver wolf (or that's what I've read - hence "the dogge" reference). Anyway, is there a place to actually see it? Or a book? Maire.

A "wolf dog" is what I've seen it described as - something like an Alsatian
or a husky.

Somewhere I have a booklet containing the arms of various nobles of the
day - I'll try to dig it out.

Thanks, Claire. There is a small plague with his arms at Minster Lovell, but I can barely make it out. Maire.

Carol responds:
We had a whole thread on "Lovell our dog" a while back if any of you are interested. It's easy enough to find using the search engine. I'm fairly sure that one of the posts included a link to Lovell's coat of arms.
David, can you help us out?

Can I 'Commend' Minster Lovell, near Burford, on the way to Oxford to Ricardians & readers?
As well as the Parish Church, there still exists the remains of 'Minster Lovell Hall', [& Dovecot.]
which is in the stewardship of English Heritage. A skeleton was discovered bricked up, [I think] in the 17th Century. It was believed to have been Francis Lovell, who I understand, escaped after Bosworth.
The local Hotel /Inn is very near and very attractive,
See:

For those with a wider interest in English History, Nearby Burford Church has associations with the English Civil War & the Levellers.
Kind Regards,
Arthur.

Been there many times Arthur as I live within easy reach. Re the Church...one of the windows was blown out by a bomb during the war. Hitler ordered it because he was trying to get rid of one of the Mitford sisters who lived nearby in that ghastly house...Eileen
