The Angel Inn, Grantham, Lincolnshire
The Angel Inn, Grantham, Lincolnshire

I just discovered The Angel Inn in Grantham still exists, where Richard stayed in October 1483, and where he "the most untrue creature living" letter. It's said this is where he signed Buckingham's death warrant once the King received his seal.
If you Google for Angel Inn, Grantham, you can explore all about it. With pictures.
If you go to the Best Western hotel site for the Angel and Royal, you can click on their restaurant tab and see the first floor royal suite where Richard stayed. It's been converted into a restaurant, but the stonework, some of the ceiling, and the windows are intact. (I winced too, but then I realized we're lucky to still have the building itself.)

There's also a pub called the Gloucester Arms (formerly Dockray Hall) in
Penrith, where Richard lodged when his main residence at the time, Penrith
Castle, had the builders in. There's an article about it here:

I looked it up on streetview. It's actually outside Grantham, in a village called South Witham which looks lovely. All I know about Grantham itself is Margaret Thatcher's dad's grocers shop .......
