Richard's skull and National Portrait Gallery portrait match
Richard's skull and National Portrait Gallery portrait match
2013-03-03 18:47:32
I attended the Leicester conference on Saturday, I am not going into long details at this time as I have still to get my head around some of it and get it straight so I can do a report on the information we all got.
It was a great day and I enjoyed most of it very much.
One thing I will tell you now is that Caroline showed us a computer generation of how Richard's skull fitted well into the National Portrait Gallery portrait of Richard, the one by unknown artist. It was wonderful, a great fit.

PS It's a great pity you could not all be there you would have learnt a great deal.

OK, just make us turn blue holding our collective breaths! I absolutely understand, and think reflection before presentation is a good rule to follow on most everything - especially this. WOW, I hope we get to see how the skull fits with the portrait.

Seems likely we will; someone mentioned there were about eleven billion cameras there.

It's an excellent match, although the position of the eyes is slightly off.
I've just tried to do the same thing with the SoA portriat in ImageFolio:
it's harder to do because the angle isn't quite right, but that too seems to
be a very good match except that the original artist or the copier has
positioned his right cheek too high.

Sorry if attatchment not showing but the link does show the picture I tried to get which was very difficult at the time. You will however see what I mean about the match.

Hello Just thought you might like to know that Caroline said that Richard's eye sockets were not deep set, I was there at the conference. More to come when I have collated the info.
Bit tired at the moment, was a long weekend.
