I understand that like me, many do not want to think of Richard having a curved spine (my mother has one and it was only noticed when she got older) but at the Leicester Conference we were shown how the spine might look following investigation. This would not be as noticeable when clothed as the shoulder might present as only slightly higher and may have been disguised by clothing.

Without clothing the slide we were shown did have the back looking curved quite considerably.  Armour would have had to be specially made and a armour expert did show how this differed to take into account Richards spine misalignment.

Of course on further investigation we will know more.  The conference was very detailed about these tow matters.

Hope this helps

Thanks Marian. It's the first I heard of this detail at Leicester. I have no problem with the curved spine giving one shoulder higher than the other - with emphasis on the word slightly. That would indeed make sense with contemporary evidence and would be in keeping with Richard's known active lfestyle.
What I have a real problem with is how this has been taken by the media in particular to the 'invalid walking with a stoop' - which of course all started with Jo Appleby. We're almost back to Anthony Sher, in fact I'm surprised no-one's come up with the Olivier leg brace!
I'm glad also there seem to be some further investigations which may yield more.
