Re: Movie Role of Richard&I just saw a TV fantasy medieval movie. The lead was a heroic figure played by James Franco, who has Portugese blood. I think he would make a fine Richard, with perhaps brown hair and other modifications. I feel 30 years ago when I actively pursued this idea and was in touch with important people in England and o California, that the actor Peter Strauss was perfect back then for he role. Please look at YOUTUBE.com and type in Jericho Mile, to see Mr. Strauss in a character that showed how perfect he would have been them, for this role. Carol D.

I just can't help but see Orlando Bloom when I look at the reconstruction. He also has the slender almost feminine frame Richard is reported to have had and you wouldn't deny his strength or agility(just watch him as Legolas in LOTR!) So, i think that he would be good although he might be too tall.
Thanks for brining this topic up to lighten the mood, it's become rather heavy on here as late.

I also thought about Gabriel Byrne, when he was young.

Yes, a movie script based on Sunne in Splendour, staring Orlando Bloom as Richard III and Richard Armitage as Warwick. It should go someways to counter the slander by Shakespeare.

It would probably do more than a book by the most prestigious historian - the Six Wives of Henry VIII have sold us the Tudors for decades.
