I have just read a review of the implications of Sir Tony Robinson's ("knighted" in jest by Michael Hastings, Earl of Loudon) two hours on Saturday night.
It says that the House of Hastings, as we should call them for brevity, is ineligible because their ancestor, Clarence, was attainted. However, under Jones's Hypothesis, this was an attainder carried out by an illegal monarch and, surely, is invalid, leaving Warwick, then Margaret and her descendants as THE senior legitimate line.
If illegitimate children could have been legitimated into the queue so easily, what of Henry Fitzroy, son of Henry VIII by Bessie Blount? He slightly predeceased his father (without his own issue) but would have solved the succession problem and stopped Henry's "chopping and changing".
What of Monmouth, who would have been a Protestant heir to Charles II, ahead of James II? What about William IV's football team by Dorothea Jordan, ahead of Victoria? The mind boggles.

This whole thing is getting absurb I'm sure if we really worked it out back to the Saxon kings it wouldn't be Michael Hastings or Elizabeth Windsor with the claim to the throne. It could be anyone.
Actually though the Queen is descended from the Saxon royal family from Henry I's Queen and, I heard, also from Harold. If I remembered correctly one of Harold's female descendants married into the Danish Royal Family and eventually that came to the present Queen.
Sarah Ferguson is descended from the Duke of Monmouth so can her and Prince Andrew's daughters claim precedence over their cousins William and Harry?
It was on a couple of current affairs shows here last night in Australia and it just showed how sloppy their research on the shows can be. The reporter referred to the Duke of York as King Richard!
