Annette's Book
Annette's Book

My copy of "The Maligned King" arrived yesterday. I have only read the preface, but it is wonderful. I had never taken the time to research David Starkey. Hmmmm, do you think reading Tudor History, might ever so slightly cloud his impartiality? I am looking forward to every page.

It's a very encouraging book. I've got it for my holiday reading right now.

Hi Pamela, enjoy Annette's book it's one of the best on Richard in my opinion, along with Kendal. Very well researched. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get to know Richard especially for the first time.

Yes, it is delightful, and meticulously documented. I believe that Ms. Carson has looked very carefully and impartially, which makes me say "FINALLY".

Indeed, because Annette went back to the original sources, as well as
looking at everything from a human point of view.
She has a unique take on her subject because of her understanding of the
complexities of human nature now, and at the time. Not that we as human
beings have changed much, only attitudes and beliefs.
Annette writes about the real people Richard and those in his life were.
Only Kendall has done anything similar when writing about Richard.

Yes, thank you for saying this far more eloquently than I. Her writing rather puts our other "historians/writers" in the shade, perhaps all the way to the deep freeze!
Unfortunately, the average audience has very little desire to read or see anything but bodice rippers or awful and very gory action. Of course, we know that there was sex aplenty back then, and the battles were probably far worse than contemporary fighting. I am 66, so I like to imagine the sexy stuff, and hate the fake stunts and over-the-top violence.
