Hmmm...FDidn't Eleanor of Aquitaine pick out a bride for him and follow him around, towing the girl along, hoping to force the marriage? Don't recall the spurned bride's name or origin, though.
Ann;
Berengaria of Navarre: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berengaria_of_Navarre
If you consider Richard as Duke of Aquitaine, she could be described as the girl next door.
Jenny:
Is this Eleanor of Aquitaine's daughter? She didn't marry outside the faith - but Richard apparently suggested that she might and was in negotiations for such a marriage. Johanna and Eleanor raised such a stink over the suggestion that it was quietly dropped. Johanna subsequently married in France - one of the southern dukedoms or countships, IIRC.
Ann:
Saladin (born in Tikrit -- small world) proposed to marry Joanna to his brother. Richard was willing to consider it -- especially as the proposal was to allow the Holy Land to remain in Saracen hands but open to Christian pilgrimages. However, Joanna married Count Raymond VI of Toulouse and died in 1199, three children in three years.

As far as I know it was only Berengaria that Eleanor looked at as a
bride for Richard I.
