I now have four episodes stacked up onm y HDD to watch if I can bring
myself to watch them. However in response to the guy playing Richard's
reactions to critics of the lack of historical facts, I am inspired to
write to him and ask him why he did no proper research, as had he done
so he would have discovered what a colourful, exciting, fascinating
period of history Richard's life is!
Probably wouldn't get a response, as he was clearly told to ignore
history and go with the PG script. I doubt any of the actors did any
real research, otherwise they might well have realised what a load of
poo they were getting into and pulled out! Unless they were all so
starved for work.
I feel if the cast had known the real history the set would have been
full of actors reacting like Richard Dreyfuss in Goodbye Girl when he
realised what a dreadful waste of his talent, and the huge missed
opportunity, the production he was in had been! Tears everywhere!
