Tomb Announcement
Tomb Announcement
2013-07-19 15:19:06
Jacqui asked me to post this for her as she is having trouble posting to the forum. It's obviously not fresh news now, but anyway.
Marie
"Leicester Cathedral announced today that Richard III will have a table
tomb. There are several possible designs for the tomb, which are being
developed by van Heyningen and Haward architects, on behalf of the
Cathedral, and a working party that includes representatives from the
Richard III Society, the University of Leicester and the City Council.
Attached is one concept, copyright van Heyningen and Haward.
For full details visit the Cathedral's website, see link below. The
Society and Leicester University have both published press releases
(ours is attached) the story is also carried by the BBC and the
Leicester Mercury, see links below.
We will keep you posted as more information comes to hand."

If you go to the Leicester Cathedrals website the picture is a bit clearer and I was over the moon to see that on the 'petal' of the white rose surrounding the tomb is inscribed Loyaltie me Lie.
I think at the end of the day, although not everyone is getting exactly what they wished I.e. a York burial...well take a look..is this not indeed beautiful? and Richard will be getting the monument he has deserved for so long. I think its wonderful. Now hopefully now we can look forward to Richard finally being laid to rest....Eileen
