"Dan Jones has brought the Plantagenets out of the shadows, revealing them
in all their epic heroism and depravity." Richard III is discussed in the
review, but the book ends with the unthroning of Richard II; the author
promises a sequel.

I believe Dan Jones is very anti-Richard. Said Richard should be buried back in the car park. "where he belongs" and scoffs at Richard's supporters.

Don't you remember he was on one of the news channels on TV on the day in February when they broadcast to confirm the remains found were Richard's. He was extremely unpleasant and used it as a sounding board for his own agenda. He didn't have a good word to say about Richard, but it got him exposure and the money must have come in very handy! Can't remember now whether it was Paul or Ed but they also commented about him on here in response to his remarks.

I think I'll watch something else tonight. A grim story of a mass shooting filmed in Faversham which is about an hour's drive from where I live.
Am trying "The Shadow of the Tower".

Yes, but Dan Jones is primarily a journalist, not a historian. And he has the instincts of a hack journalist - good at forming snap opinions overnight and dealing in hyperbole. Great self publicist. He knows perfectly well he gets coverage from his extreme views, and as a media person he knows the people to approach.

Trouble is there will always be people like that in any age. Let's hope PG moves quickly on to Liz1 and a few media hacks divert there (though I admire her). I agree with Jonathan the other day, no other monarch that I know of has two cities festooned with banners in his honour. Fame will always bring controversy (and help people make money). I remain (cautiously) optimistic - but I can't bring myself to watch the last three episodes of TWQ.

In the first few minutes of his new series on monarchy and music he
praised Elizabeth 1 for being the sole person responsible for the
quality of English music! Talk about tunnel vision.

Do you mean to say TWQ is slated to end the Sunday after the anniversary of Bosworth? So "fans" will either be weeping or gloating at the ending, depending on the House they're supporting? How deliberate is that scheduling?

I bought it when it first came out ( and I didn't know who DJ was). I still haven't read it and wish I hadn't bought it since I hate the thought of contributing to the bank balance of anyone who is anti Richard.

I expect it to end with the "glorious " Henry Tudor being crowned and
marrying his "beloved" Elizabeth of York to much rejoicing!
Well except from anyone who knows any history or anything about human
relationships that is!
