I think there will be a piece about Richard III on this next week. If
you have digital it might be worth keeping a check on the listings
magazines.
I enjoyed last night's programme......

Once upon a time, people would check facts before sounding off to the
general public. Some of the old myths trotted out again.
Who knew we had a King Louis for a year after John died, acclaimed in St
Pauls, as nobody wanted a child to rule?
But in all fairness to Alan Eirera , or rather, as my Yorkist bias shows, in
the second programme he came down very hard on Henry Bolingbroke (no he
wasn't the heir, no way, as there was a child living who was descended from
Edward III's second son) gives Henry VI the bad review he and his regime
deserve, then traces the Tudor's line (Margaret called her son Henry - there
had never been a Henry in the Beaufort line before, nor in the Tudor line,
but it was a king's name, so what was she planning? But the Beauforts wer
barred from the throne, and Tudor had no English royal blood)
He is clearly gearing up for an attack on the Tudor legends as he says next
time how the Tudors created the legend of the most evil king in history, and
the greatest queen ever. I'm now looking forward to seeing episode 3!
Unfortunately there is no listing for it next week, and at the UKTV History
web site transmission dates are only listed for the 2 episodes already
shown. i've emailed asking when series continues, so hope they get back to
me.

Paul:

Ann:
Surely any background researcher for a television program who looks even cursorily at a Beaufort family tree can hardly fail to spot Cardinal Henry B? Nor would it have been unnatural for baby Henry to have been named for his father's royal half-brother. Was the King by any chance the godfather to this fatherless nephew? That would have clinched it.
