Anne's Funeral

Anne's Funeral

Can anyone tell me why there was a 9-day interval between the day Anne
died and the day she was buried? Did it take a week to embalm someone,
or was there a specified time the body laid in state, or....

Died: Wed. 16 March 1485
Burial: Fri. 25 March 1485
(Per Ashdown-Hill's *Last Days of R3*)

Also, would she have been "on display" in some chapel for days before
the funeral, or would she have been carried from [somewhere] to the
Abbey the day of the funeral? While Richard couldn't attend her
funeral by tradition, would he have been in attendance some other
time?

Thanks so much for your help.

Friend: Are you upset about the outcome of the election?
Me: I'm upset about the outcome of the War of the Roses.

She may have lain in St Stephens Chapel which was part of the Palace of Westminster before she was taken to the Abbey...which was just across the road...Eileen
