Gentle People,
I would like to ask your assistance with the Ricardian-era articles
at an online encyclopedia that I have been having a lot of fun
fiddling with lately . The article most in need of a neutral point
of view is the one blatantly admiring the avaricious Henry Tudor &
Co. at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_VII_of_England
I've done my best to make it more neutral, but I feel a surer hand
is needed. Wikipedia is a fairly civil place, with sensible rules of
behaviour, and I hope perhaps a few of you will enjoy editing there
as much as I do.
Regards,
LF

I would add my voice in support of any Ricardian involvement in the
construction of Wikipedia. I did a modest bit of editing of the Richard
III entry a couple years ago, including the addition of some weblinks back
to us (*smile*). The Ricardian community has a collective body of
expertise in fifteenth century England that can add immeasurably to the
richness of this resource.
While we're on the subject of Wikipedia, I hope no one will mind if I go
off-topic for a moment. Perhaps some of you have heard of the practice of
"Googlebombing," influencing search rankings by building links to sites on
their behalf. A group of racists has participated in a Googlebomb so that
the search term "Jew" brings up a hate site as the #1 result in Google. A
group of netizens is working on a counterbomb linking to the relevant
entry in Wikipedia. With the blessing of our American Branch board (or at
least the ones who have read and responded to my e-mail on the subject, I
have installed a counterbomb at the bottom of the www.r3.org/ homepage.
Any Ricardians willing to participate in this effort are encouraged to do
so.
(Since a Wikipedia entry would be unlikely otherwise to come up #1 in
Google search results, this will send a strong message to the haters:
there are more of us than there are of you. Wikipedia is now #2 in Google,
or was last night, and may even have made it to #1 by now.)

Laura,
Fascinating. I'm doing my bit!
The latest topic at the Richard III page has been the legitimacy of
his older brother, of course. I've done updating and linking the
pages concerning the Nevilles and the various battles of the time.
Very interesting stuff...
