I am so new to this period of history so some advice regarding the above topic would be appreciated.

The first book I read, Richard 111 and the fate of his DNA by John Ashdown Hill states quite categorically that this was a misunderstanding and that was what Richard denied.

In the infamous White Queen much was made of the fact that it was a reality.

Some other historians support the theory, others don't.

I have faith in the "main man" Dr Ashdown Hill personally, but I would be interested to know the opinions of other members.. ,

I always have trouble with the way the verb to marry is sometimes employed. I start reading, say, Richard wanted to marry Elizabeth of York, which seems pretty plain, he wants to make her his wife, yes? But then the sentence ends to a royal prince of Portugal. (Can't remember the actual chap's name now.) If the sentence had been worded, Richard wished to see Elizabeth of York married to a prince of Portugal, it's clear from the outset that he, Richard, wasn't the one intending to marry her. It's all in the way the sentence is constructed. I wonder if this verb has been the cause of a lot of misinformation about Richard down the centuries. Yes, he denied wanting to marry her himself, but not who else's wife he might think she should become. Either way, he would be associated with marrying her. Sandra =^..^= From: janjovian@... ΓΏ The Hicksosaurus excepted, almost no historians believe it. JA-H has proven that Richard was negotiating for a re-marriage in Portugal just weeks after Anne died. ----- Original Message ----- From: janjovian@...
