Finally visited Middleham castle today (a long and complicated journey on public transport from Scarborough - I can't drive!). Quite disappointed in English Heritage's guidebook that still follows the belief that Edward of Middleham was buried in Sheriff Hutton (insists it's his tomb and not just an effigy, even though it isn't him), and the text reads as if they are generally in the anti-Richard camp. Not what I would have expected for a guide to his favourite northern residence! They also claim that Sheriff Hutton is in East Yorkshire. It's not, and never has been! It's always been in the North Riding of Yorkshire! Weirdly of all the photos I took today, one of them shows the face of Shakespeare formed from the shadows! Oh, the irony........ Sharon

Would like to see your photos! Any way to post them to the

Re: Middleham
Thanks
very much for posting these! I don't care if the day was gloomy; they
are still very nice pictures. Sometimes sunny days glare out
details.
