Doug here:
In another post Carol brought up the fact that
Robert Morton had been dismissed by Richard from his position as Master of the
roles and wondered if his dismissal was due to Robert possibly
being connected with Buckingham's plot.
While I certainly can't say his dismissal *wasn't*
for that reason, I did suggest that Robert might have been dismissed because of
incompetency and that (his incompetency) could explain why the precis remained
in the Rolls - Robert didn't know it was there because he looked on his position
as a sinecure and didn't do any more than what was absolutely necessary to keep
it. So he made certain *copies* of TR were destroyed, which was easy as they
would arrive so marked, but he didn't go digging amongst the Rolls for any
mentionings of TR because that would have been *work!*

Oh, dear. My post isn't showing up, but I just quoted (and analyzed) the original text of Rotuli Parliamentorum
A.D. 1485 1 Henry VII, which shows clearly that there was no precis. If the message doesn't show up in the next half hour, I'll redo it. Sigh. Meanwhile, please go to http://partyparcel.co.uk/information/price-guarantee.html#annullment and see for yourself what Robert Morton, Master of the Rolls, actually recorded.
