Sandra, the Black Book of the Order of the Garter was commissioned by Henry VIII and made circa 1530-40, so the likeness isn't especially reliable.
Funny how Edward has been made to look a lot like Henry VIII himself, isn't it? Beard and eyes and all ;)

I confess that when I first looked at the picture, I didn't realize he was
wearing armour. I thought what ridiculously muscle-bound legs he had! (Should've
gone to Specsavers!) And yes, Henry VIII to a T, but then I suppose the Tudors
didn't mind including Edward in their ancestry. It was Richard they wanted to
erase.

Ah...so that will explain why the picture of Edward V ..from the Black Book...looks Tudorish and more like Edward Vl....

Hi Sandra,
No I haven't seen it before. It's wonderful. So glad to hear about all the good things he did.You can see why people might think his grandson Henry VIII looked like him.

Carol responds:
I haven't seen it, either. (He looks bearded! Surely, it's not contemporary?) It seems to be by the same person who did the previously unknown portrait of Edward V. That being the case, there must be one of Richard III as well--unless some Tudorite painter excluded him as a "usurper."

It is an awful depiction! And yes it does look like an older Henry VIII. Propeganda again, perhaps. particularly as Henry doted on his mother.
